Orig iPad 64 GB, update iOS

Some app upgrades don't work, internet connection just drops (on my home wi-fi and others). Is there any way to upgrade past iOS 5.1.1?

If not, what a shameful waste!

Options

iOS 5.1.1 is as high as you can go ( besides jail breaking). The wifi drops shouldn't be related to this though.
