Works With Third Party Charger But Not Apple

I have a 2009 MBP 13 (820-2530-a board) that appears to work and charges fine with a third party charger.

However it does not recognize any Apple charger. SMC resets are no help. If the macbook is running and an Apple charger is connected the green light remains off and the system does not see the charger.

If I remove the logic board, disconnect the battery and connect the Apple charger the green LED blinks on and off repeatedly.

Set up like this (logic board out, magsafe connected and no battery) I am trying to work my way through the K24 schematics to possibly resolve this.

So far it looks like G3hot as measured on the power on test pads is pulsing up to 2..4 volts as the magsafe tries to start and I am trying to work out why G3hot is only 2.4V there instead of the required 3.4V.

In looking over voltages at U6990, U6901 and U6900 I am still seeing 2.4V where I should be seeing 3.4v

So I would like to have a look at D6905, the input to U6990, however I haven’t been able so far to find its board location.

The board location of D6905 and any other ideas would be appreciated.

One other thought is I’m not sure exactly how that low 2.4V G3hot is/must be relevant to the original problem of the MBP failing to recognize any apple charger when assembled and running with the battery.

Answer this question I have this problem too
