My backlight is out or there's a false connection, what to do?

Broken cable in the hinge, not powering the inverter board anymore. I believe this is what is happening but i am unsure of how to repair it. I also would want to know the cost of something like that repair... Please answer.

Yeah that could be whats doing that or inverter bad,and even bad lcd also,plug to external source usally if comes on another its bad inverter,just few scews,on the trim around lcd,under little rubber screw cover,phillips screw driver needed,take that off,inverter,under there at bottom in middle,cost u bout $4 to 15 at the most,cheap and easy,if lcd online can get new for under 50,lcd cable bout 15,all easy to do,goodluck sure theres a guide if u need on here or online,goodluck

noah wilson, the first thing I would suggest is that you get the service manual. Download it from here. It will show you how to work on your laptop. The inverter itself will cost you around $20, the cable has part number KN358 and can be picked up used for around $5. Hope this helps, good luck.
