ssd replacement guide / tips needed

Hey everyone!

My old hdd died a few days ago ( the original one) so i came up with the idea of replacing my old with an ssd one.

i came across this video from ifixit howto open my imac,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3w6E2_Xqa...

so i already know the tools i need ( like screwdrivers etc)

My friends suggest me the samsung evo 250gb, but my questions is - what other hardware / cabel / mounting etc stuff do i need?

any help is welcome ( and sorry for my bad english )

Yes The hard drive in these models also can be swapped out with a faster 3 Gb/s SATA-equipped SSD, and the swap is no more difficult than upgrading the hard drive. However you must have a drive that is Serial ATA II (3 Gb/s).

A "new" 6Gb/s SATA III drive could have problems freezing and stalling if it does not 'downshift" to the slower read/write speed. Depending upon the size of the SSD you might need a special bracket or adapter.

MBP 15 A1286 (2010)

Thx, I replaced the original HDD with 500GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD.

It works so far.

I am reading that the SATA in this MBP is SATA 2 (the version which I don't find in the system info, it just says SATA).

Question:

What is the SATA version?

Will it stop working?

Where do I find a SATA 3 replacement cable in this MBP model / year? Google shows me nothing for SSD.

Cheers!
