iPod touch main button not working

My little boy got a hold of it and slobbered all over it, it worked fine for about 4-5 days and now the main button is not working at all. What can i do?

connection may have been damaged so search this site for a replacement

Take a toothbrush and some isopropyl alcohol and scrub out the charging port real well. It can fix it if the ipod worked for a period of time after the liquid damage. Chances are the battery has now died and the charging port could very well be in of a scrubbing The acohol will dry quickly and is non conductive any way. Charge for 1 hour. Plug it in to the computer and see if itunes recognizes it. If nothing at that point hold power and home to see if anything pops up on the screen.
