white screen of death is the logic board dead?

Tried all possible options, but it wont power up, the only thing i get is the white screen of death. Tried also re-booting from a CD but nothing.... any other tips? many thanks

thanks very much. i removed the HD and it proved to be the faulty part.... now i just have to get a new one. do you guys know if is possible to recover the data from the old HD? thanks again for your reply!

Depends on how faulty it is really, one way to find out is to connect it to your macbook with a new HDD.

use: [linked product missing or disabled: IF107-097] and see if u can recover some data

Hi there,

no expert but have you tried these options?

-plug the "system install" pendrive

-reset the SMC

-reset the PRAM

this thread on Ifixit seems to be on a related issue and was fixed

Startup chime, no boot, white screen of death

That's the "White Screen of Life". A back screen is death. You most likely have a bad hard drive. Disconnect the hard drive and see if it will boot from your original installation DVD. If so replace the hard drive.
