Home button unresponsive after replacement

Home Button was working 100% when first brought 2nd hand, after a while it became slightly more unresponsive to the point where even pushing it with force would not work sometimes. So i decided to buy a replacement and fitted it correctly however it is now completely unresponsive, I have put the older one back in and it is still unresponsive... Any ideas?

If there hasn't been any water damage there shouldn't be a problem. Make sure that the connector is all the way in and that the jawbone connector is down. Check for tears. If anything the part is faulty. Also make sure that charger port is good. Since the home button works through the charger port it could be a bad connector on the charger port.
