What changed?

Often people get new WiFi Access Point (AP's) and forget they need to change the settings and/or the new AP is setup using only the newer wireless standard (802.11n or 802.11ac) but your device is still using the old standard (802.11a/b or 802.11g)

You could also be visiting a coffee shop which no longer supports the older 802.11 standards as well.

Do you have WEP or WPA services enabled? That too could create an issue if your older equipment doesn't support the same version of WEP or WPA.

Review your equipment & settings on both your AP and your AirPort WiFi card.
