USB cable cut after splitter

My USB piece of cable on my turtle beach earforce xl1 headphones got cut when I stripped some of the black covering there is only insulation and red wire with what looks like some copper in it, is this simply sader together use some shrink wire and it should work? Or is it more complicated because of this funny looking red wire if u would like a picture of what it looks like I can send u a photo via email.

Wires are wires are wires.... if you nicked the insulation, cover it to stop a short. If you severed the wire, splice it and cover it. Liquid electrical tape or shrink tube is perfect.

many of the turtle beach sets, use 2 inputs, one from the rear for game sounds, and front for mic/voice, then you can adjust them with the mixer box on the set you can use a headset splitter mic/audio adapter to seperate the mic from speakers on it
