Chance of fixing from water damage?

My daughter's MB looks like it sat in some water. Did not boot up much less show any status LEDs on the side or when plugged in with the adapter. I followed the tear-down instructions to get at the DC board. The DC board and motherboard nearest the ports and the battery connector have a bluish-white corrosion. Any guidance for cleaning apart from using alcohol? What are the chances of this working out and restoring the laptop? Thanks in advance!

The chance is about 50-50. You have nothing to loose and something to gain by cleaning it. Follow the repair tags at right to see what you're in for and how to go about it. You'll want some soft brushes and deionized water along with better than 90% denatured alcohol (anything less is too wet).

At the very least you are gaining experience for a logic board replacement the easier DIY repair.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the response! I'll give it a shot. If I have to go with a logic board replacement, any recommendations for a source?
