iPhone 5 IC Chip Broken Near LCD FPC, IC Chip Code?

Hi Guys,

I have used this site for many years now and It just about has all the answers that I require. Recently, I have come across abit of a dilemma and I thought it would be great to post it on here incase there are others out there having the same issue.

The problem is from a mistake of mine. While i was disconnecting the LCD I pushed the tool down on the board damaging one of the IC chips. I am told it is known as a Display IC Chip. The location is right next to the LCD FPC connector. There are 3 chips located there. 1 of them has broken off. Now the iphone will not display anything but you can hear all the noises of the phone and it functions normally (i.e. touch works etc). I noticed this chip broken off straight away because I was sure that the lcd was fine.

So I was wondering if anyone knows more about this type of chip and how much and where it can be purchased?

Thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I'm also looking at an issue like this. I think mine is a backlight chip. Where can I get the schematic image the Tom has?

will you help me find the replacement for l44 on the board how do I cross-ref the correct replacement 4 pin chip? Thanks a bunch

vitalyuk, L43 and L44 are identical. Both are a 90OHM-50MA in a TCM0605-1 package filter choke.

Hi Tom, I have an iPhone 5 and the screen wont display, just chimes every 2 secs, its fully restored on itunes. i was checking the connector for damage and noticed that L41 had broken off. I presume L41,2,3 etc are all the same part?

Would this component be responsible for the LCD not working?

What does the choke do, provide some signal isolation?

I know a great source---the piece of tape in your picture. Why not put it back on?

I belive the chip in question is L43, and from what i can understand this is LCD Data filter, and can be rectified by running two vertical trace wires on pads.(if someone could please confirm this) I was lucky enough the filter IC was stuck under the tape in my case dont forget to check if its still stuck there. Hope this helps someone.

You could do that, if you wanted to bridge the component. Why not replace it properly with a TCM0605-1 90OHM-50MA filter choke? That way you know you have a proper repair

depends where you are located. I usually use mouser.com or digikey.com for SMD components.
