Recommended SSD for MacBook 2008

Hi

Im new here, hope I have post in the right section,

Can anyone recommend a ssd for 2008 macbook aluminium, have been looking at a 128gb samsung 840 pro, which has great reviews is this model ok

No, wont work too fast you require a Serial ATA (3 Gb/s) that's a SATA III (6GB/s) it's overkill you 'd have to jumper it down to work on your system. You'll have hangs and freezing if you don't.

Yes, the Samsung 840 Pro mentioned above will work perfectly fine. There are no jumpers to fiddle with. The current Samsung SSD models don't have jumpers at all, but are compatible with all three SATA versions.

I do agree that there are cheaper alternatives that won't make any performance difference on this old Macbook, for example the Samsung 840 (without "Pro") or even a Samsung 830 - if you can still fine one. As for current models, the Samsung 840 Evo is also slightly cheaper than a 840 Pro.
