Upgrading iMac 20" 2.0GHz 2007 with new hard drive

I would like to upgrade my iMac 2007 2.0Gz Model A1224 with a new hard drive as the current one is on it's way out. I have done some research that suggests using a hard drive with a 3Gb/s throughput.

My question is, will 6GB/s drives be backwards compatible?

In particular, Seagate 3.5 inch 3TB Barracuda Desktop Hard Drive Model No: ST3000DM001?

Mikey, there have been problems with the 3TB model of this drive, see this question: incompatibility with Seagate ST3000DM001 hard drives?

There are no jumpers on this drive to slow it down.

Consider this hybrid drive in a 2 TB model: ST2000DX001

Thanks, I Have looked at the ST2000DX001 but haven't been able to confirm if this drive can be jumped down to 3Gb/s. I can't see any documentation on it in the manual. Are you able to clarify?
