Shutting down as its booting up.

My Girlfriend has a MacBook 13" and I have a MacBook Pro 15". She sometimes uses my power charger.

Today her Mac is not booting at all. I had upgraded her HD to a SSD and new memory. I had assumed this was the problem so I changed back the HD and the memory.

The problem still persists:

The Mac will boot just after the apple sign comes on then it will shut itself down.

Anyone has a suggestion?

Thanks

It sounds like you have two issues here:

  • First these systems use different wattage power chargers so it's important to use the correct one for the system. While in it self that won't hurt anything the amount of power may not be enough to run the given system. You can find the wattage on the charger in light grey writing (small print) on the side that has the plug. Note the charger cords LED is it green or orange?

Allow the battery to charge up to at least a 25% charge. Some Macs will not start unless they get a little bump from the battery, especially if you are using a lessor wattage AC adapter.
