How to handle Kaptan tape

I will be fixing two Mini A1176s with Kaptan tape: one the audio cable where the zif lock broke, the other is the #1 top memory slot where the right locking device snapped. I talked to ifixit today to find out how to use the tape in these instances. I feel like I need a bit more information on handling the tape and where it can and cannot be used particularly on the audio cable. Do I have to try to tape it from underneath once I have seated it. It would seem to be a tricky manoeuvre. I was told I lay a strip of the tape across the ram from one side to the other - not so tricky.

If anyone, Meyer even, can provide information I would be much grateful. (I have read all of the answers here for my model of minis),
