Lock Button slowly not responding

The Lock Button on my iPhone 5 is starting to slowly not response when I push it. I've read it's due to manufacturing defect. Unfortunately, I'm guessing my phone is now past the limited warranty period (which I'm confirming on Monday.)

My question is can it be repaired using the iPhone 5 Power Button Replacement Guide or not?

Thanks!

Thanks, Tom Chai. I completed the "Audio Control and Power Button Cable" guide and it solved my problem. See: iPhone 5 Audio Control and Power Button Cable Replacement

No. The correct one is "Audio Control and Power Button Cable". The power button is just a piece of metal that pushes the actual switch underneath it.

I have to depress the power/lock button on my iPhone 5 at the far left to make it connect. Do you think a new cable is needed or should I try to run through the steps of replacing the plastic button to see if there is any dirt preventing a solid connection?

Thanks!
