How do i get at the earphone jack to replace or repair it

You would need to replace the entire logic board, or as nick said, you would need to do some intense soldering. If I were you, I would get a USB sound card and this would bypass the sound card built in:

While you can repair this board and just replace the jack, you're going to need to so some SMD or tight through hole soldering.

its not intense at all if you have ever done any PCB soldering at all. its easier to replace than a capacitor even, you don't have to worry about bending it this way or that and breaking it off.
