Why can't my MacBook Pro start up now?

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro and it won't start up since last night. When I turn it on, I have a grey screen and a question mark keeps flashing right in the middle.

The question mark inplies your HD or SSD has a problem.

You have lost your OS. You'll need to boot-up with the recovery CD/DVD (or thumb drive) if you created it. Otherwise you'll need to find someone who has a working system to create a recovery CD/DVD or thumb drive.

Once you have it restart your system with it and run Disk Utility (first copy over any important files (apps & data) as you might loose them in the repair process) to see if you can repair the damage if its just the system files otherwise you'll need to reformat the drive.

Also not Apple just released a update for the Mac Book airs Toshiba SSD's. Heres a good write op and a link to the apple TN Ars Technica: Apple issues firmware fix for Toshiba SSDs in 2012 MacBook Airs
