How do I fix a non-working trackpad
after wiping it with a slightly damp cloth it worked intermittently for a few days then none at all.currently using a usb mouse.

There's a known issue
with the ribbon cable that runs under the top case and over the battery. It can be come dislodged, crimped or damaged,
A solution is to flip the laptop over, press the cable straight, wrap it with some scrap paper.
