Is it possible to use the Mid 2009 motherboard?

Possibly I burnt my DC In-board to my MBA Original (2008) with a broken Magsafe, and so I sent it to a premium reseller, to check my Macbook. They said that the whole motherboard is broken now(circuit failure), and so I should buy a new motherboard. But I have some doubt, because after I connected the bad Magsafe, and it caused a little blow sound and a soft "burn smell" near the power connector, but It still worked.

So before buying a DC In-board I have a question:

Can I install a Mid 2009 MBA's motherboard which is 2,3 Ghz, to my MBA 2008? And also if not, than can I use at least the 1,8Ghz version in my 1,6Ghz Macbook?

Thanks in advance, spankiee

There are construction differences even between '08 models (original and late)... and also between '09 & '08 models

If you have the machines open look at & compare placement of external video & battery connectors.

I don't have a schematic that could explain what you shorted out (burn smell) but anytime you get that oder parts are either being damaged (life shortened) or destroyed (burned up).

You have to consider just how much you're willing to spend on this old box. It might be smarter to part out what isn't shot (case, keyboard, display, wireless card) take that $ and what you'd spend on repair/replacement of the logic board and go get a newer (maybe even used) Mac.
