Can I replace a dock connector with one from another motherboard?

Hy,

I've recently made a working iPod from 2 broken ones but now the dock connector is broken and the iPod won't charge anymore. So I was wondering if it is possible to desolder it and "simply" solder the one I have from the spare peaces I have left?

I have seen this question but I'm not sure I am comfortable with all the fine soldering from this solution and that I have the appropriate material.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Alexander van der Zee, you can switch the dock connector for as long as it is the same model iPod. There is no easy way to exchange it, it does require plenty of micro soldering.

So just to be sure: if I can desolder it and solder it back on I don't have to do the intermediate steps? (Using the product so the solder will apply correctly)
