USB 3.0. Any idea about how to update it?

Hello.

I'm a bit angry about using fast USB 3.0 disk with the poor 2.0 USB included with my MBP.

Did you know some way to improve the USB host adapter, or use other option to achieve the USB 3.0 speed?

Thanks in advance.

Chosen Solution

Calm down the first certified USB 3.0 consumer products were announced January 5, 2010, at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES), including two motherboards by ASUS and Gigabyte Technology.'''

So when your laptop was on the drawing board and being manufactured USB 3 was a slowly evolving idea.

There's power differences between USB 2 & USB 3 so an adaptor is not a possibility... However there is a solution but it's cumbersome for a laptop.

You may wish to take the money you'd spend on it, and what you can get by selling your old MBP and buy a new one that supports USB 3.0

If you had an older MBP with a PC Card slot you could have gotten a USB3 PC Card unit to plug in USB3 PC Card.

Yes, off course the "old" design for that model it's the main problem O:-)

Matrox adapter looks very good, but "A Mac system with a Thunderbolt port.", so it's a similar problem for my 2009's MBP.

Finally I will consider your third option O:-)

Thank's a lot.
