Can a CCFL high-resolution LCD panel from model A1229 fit into A1261?

I have a 17" Macbook Pro from early 2008, model A1261, with a CCFL 1680x1050 screen. I know that replacing a CCFL panel with a LED one would require also replacing the logic board and the whole display assembly, so the question is whether a hi-res CCFL screen from an older model would fit.

I suspect there might be a difference in connectors given that older Macbook pros were shipped with ATI graphics and not NVidia. Is there anyone who has seen both panels and could tell for sure they are (or are not) interchangeable?

Is this a good question?

Yaroslav Fedevych, any chance you can provide the serial or manufacturer number of at least one LCD panel? that way I could check the data sheet and try to check compatibility of the connectors etc.?

No you can't swap the different type of display backlight units (CFL Vs LED) into the apposing system. The power services are radically different between the different backlight systems (high Vs low voltages).

You seem to have slight reading problems. I'm clearly writing — swap a CCFL display with another CCFL display, from an older model, just different resolution.

OK, you got me! I guess I need to clean my glasses! Sorry to say its still likely a no go here, due to the differences in the LCD's connections. You will need to get the display spec sheets and compare them very carefully.

That's why I'm asking — I'm not quite in the mood to disassemble my unit and spending my money on a display that might end up being useless, especially if someone curious might have done it before.

Maybe there is someone lurking here who has seen both displays, or has pictures of the connectors, or tried once, that knows for sure — thus the question.

You don't need to go that route. All you need to do is lookup the spec sheets most are online. Then, compare things (from the spec sheets). I doubt anyone has attempted what you're proposing here.
