When i first bought my laptop, i remember just a slight push of the open button would release the display case and lift it from the case. Through the use after all these years when that button is pressed it just doesn't popup as it used to!
How can i fix the spring mechanism that opens/lifts the display and unveils my laptops keyboard?

The clutch has worn out.
Here's the steps to replace Left Clutch Hinge. It's a lot of work and you do need to be careful here as its easy to damage the display in the process.

Yes, not really worth the time or the risks. A folded over piece of duct tape for a pull works for me ;-}
