Replaced Hard Drive, now can't get OS-X installed.

Hi,

My MacBook Pro A1278 had bad Hard Drive. I replaced it with a new Hard Drive, but I just can't get the OS installed.

It only boots up to the Grey Apple Logo and repeatedly beeps three beeps.

Tried removing the RAM & re-insert only one RAM module at a time still will only boot to three beeps.

Any ideas??

Thanks.

Did you use proper ESD practices here? And made sure your system was powered down Vs in sleep mode? I would first start by removing the new HD and with a bootable CD/DVD recovery disk or a bootable thumb drive see if you can get the system to boot up without the HD present.

If it is able to boot up you maybe encountering a compatibility issue with your new HD. Your systems SATA port is SATA II (3.0 Gb/s). You may want to check your new HD's SATA speed is it the same or faster? If faster you could encounter issues.

If you still can't get it to boot up without the beeps you'll need to review what you did as something got damaged.

Hi, the beeps seems to be Install DVD related. Original DVD that came with Macbook Pro I get 3 beeps. I tried install from Retail OSX Leopard I get black screen with a bunch of messages: npvhash=4095, Hi mem tramps at 0xffe00000..etc. I tried like you suggested without HDD still same result. Tried new HDD still same. Put old HDD back I get grey folder with question mark. Anything else I can try?

Memory errors are clearly a memory module issue. I think you'll need to get a fresh set of modules here and make sure you have them correctly installed.
