Dust or crack on the sensor?

My dad has a Nikon D700 and about two years ago he accidentally dropped it. It fell on the lens and they got stuck. He took it to a repair shop and they were able to get it out, camera still working and all.

I noticed a small black dot on the upper right corner of some pics, I changed to different optics but it's still there. Depending on the aperture you can see the dot blurred or focused.

I tried many times the "clean image sensor" option in the camera but no change. I checked the mirrors but they seem ok, crack and dust free.

Any diagnosis?

I'm almost sure its a crack on the sensor's glass... is there a way to replace it?

Did some specialized forum search for this issue and it turns out it's fungus. I had to lock up the mirror to get a good view of the sensor.

There are pre-moistened swaps available to clean up a sensor. These were quite helpful.

The procedure is easy. Nonetheless, you have to be careful when you do it.

The fungus can germinate on the surface of many optical parts, and is also able to erode the surface (mildews excreted acid). Camera, Scanner, etc., it are many optical parts inside the bodies, and not only in camera lenses.

When fungus were germinating into the interlayer of optical parts, that is unable simple to get a cleansing. Like rear-side of the IR filter.

You just possible to clean some surfaces very limited. However, unable to clean and kill all of the diffused mold spores.

The mold spores will be ejecting and drifting, once that meet the high humidity and warm climate, the diffused mold spores to germinate and grow to elsewhere.

Therefor, you need an automated dehumidifier cabinet, not just with some cleaning tools.

Note, for the automated dehumidifier cabinet that you should pick from the desiccant-circulation type;

Do not buy a semiconductor refrigeration module's dehumidifier cabinet. (the semiconductor refrigeration to discharge the condensed water from within the cabinet, that the condensed water path easy to breed fungus. Meantime, expended power more much)
