Can I buy a used G5 20" iMac to replace the screen?

I have an the 20" Intel iMac, but the screen has been hashed apart by my kids. The apple repair places want to charge me $700 to replace it, so the current plan is to buy a used/broken one on ebay with a good screen. The G5's seem to be going for a cheaper price, so if I can use the screen on the G5 for the 20" I could save a lot of money.

Anyone know if this can be done?

That part number seems to be for the G5 iMac, I have an Intel. Alos the link does not seem to work.

You should be able to buy the screen for your mac for around $100, much cheaper then a G5 (Or even a dead G5) I'm not sure that G5 screens are compatible with the Intel models.

yea im looking for a 20" intel screen as well and had a 20 imac g5 screen to try they dont work you can only get one from and Intel or same model number

I never found a used iMac for a screen, just dealing with the scratches. :(

if you get something from the internet just be sure the model and type of the screen is the same, becuase, if you get the wrong one you will have a lot of frustrations.
