Inverter Cable connection damaged on MacBook Pro 17" A1229

When I went to repair my fans I inadvertently damaged the inverter connection on the logic board. Video works only when an external display is connected. Is it possible to repair this connection, or do I need a new logic board? What other options are there? I rarely use the laptop screen and basically have this setup as a desktop so it's not a major concern but there are times when one requires the screen to work. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Post an image of the damage. It "may" be possible to resolder the connector

A professional could probably repair the connection (DIY soldering of computer components is not recommended - soldering MLBs requires special tools, solder and lots & lots of practice).

A DIY repair (though still very advanced) would be a logic board replacement - essentially you completely disassemble and reassemble the entire lap top. Based on your fan repair I'd say not the route to go.

Or, as you have suggested you could just live with, or, part out the machine take that money, the money you'd spend on repair and buy a new lap top.
