Why does my MacBook turn off while starting up?

MacBook A1278 13-inch late 2008

My MacBook first didn't start at all. It worked until it stopped to charge the battery. Then it went off and I couldn't start it again.

I changed the A/C board. Didn't work. Then I tried to jump the power button. This did work. It started and the charger LED came back to life (but just the green one, so it does not charge).

While starting up it suddenly turns off. The strange thing about is, that I now can use the power button to start it until I replug the cable.

Has anyone an idea what I can try next?

Answer this question I have this problem too

I realized now, that the Macbook stays on a long time while starting up with netboot and no HDD and no DVD-Drive attached to the board.

When I replug the HDD it turns of almost suddenly.

May it be possible that the power management of the MacBook unibody 2008 gets confused without a working battery attached to it? I meant: Is it possible that the MacBook hasn't enough power to stay on?
