Back light doesn't work.

My aunt wash her phone in the washer. It still works completely but no back light. What exactly is wrong and can it be fix?

Usually this is an indication of damage to the logic board, you can try replacing the display, but it's usually the logic board, in which case it's not cost or time-effective to replace.
