Why is the loading taking so long?
When loading a file from documents or going on gmail, it takes forever to load.

Start up holding down the Command and R keys. Run Disk Utilities and see if the drive needs repair.

Check your HD for corruption. AHT ->Tools->Disk Tools: repair disk, repair permissions... if you can't do those then your Flash Drive may be bad.

Can you let know if its happening regularly or randomly? You said when you go to gmail, mean the file may be very large to load or internet speed may not be good enough to upload the file to gmail. However, if your hard drive is acting strange and disk utility confirm damages then try to back up most data to an external hard drive or else download a 3rd party Mac utility to repair your HDD. I can suggest you try the following
