Hang, does not start

Hi

I have a problem with my MacBook Pro 5,1 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo.

When I shut down, or restart, the system hang..

There's no noise of the DVD drive, but the activity lamp in front is on (after few seconds off, then on again and stay's on).

If I wait for several hours, it will start without problems and run properly...

Anybody any ideas, where's the problem???

Thanks a lot!

Run AHT - try tools-> repair disk. Also Disk Utility->Repair permissions. Sounds like you have either corrupt preferences, permissions or eminent disk failure (hope you have/keep a current backup of any valuable files - not apps just data that would be a PITA to repalce/recreate.)
