Black Screen overall and starting sound + vent

Hello,

i have some new problems with my imac. after i send it to repair service (not apple) and they fix the FI-X30SSL-HF on the logicboard (replace it with a new one). my imac did the boot sound but nothing happend on the screen. extern dvi screen doesn´t work too, but it works before i send it to the repair service (the dvi on an extern monitor).

they said to me that the reason is:

a. the vga could be defect OR

b. it doesn´t work because i put the FI-X30SSL-HF back on the board and two pins connected each other and give a negative electric feedback on the board. but it works before i send it to them (the dvi, not the intern lcd).

what do u mean could it be?

I think you meant defective VGU (Video Graphics Unit) aka VGC (Video Graphics Chip). This makes sense in that an external monitor does not work. The DIY test for troubleshooting VGU/VGC problems is to connect an external monitor.

You could have multiple problems.

How much you want to spend on this is up to you. Some of these had replaceable VGUs but most are soldered to the logic board. If you've damaged the logic board anyway the "fix" would be to replace the logic board.

Otherwise take the money you'd spend on repairs, the money you get from parting out the machine and buy a new one.
