Officially, Apple provides some models with upgraded video options at the time of purchase, but the video is not intended to be upgraded by a third-party. However, based on disassembly photos and a variety of teardowns, it appears that some models have the video mounted on its own card and it is theoretically upgradable in these systems.

This is an advanced DIY project you have to almost completely dis/reassemble the machine... often it is simpler to replace the logic board with the GPU included...even that is an advanced DIY project.

There were two cards possible in 21.5" Mid 2010 - so depending upon your particular machine you might be able to upgrade. If you elect to go this route I would seek a guarantee from your vendor that the CPU you purchase will work, and that if it does not you are not responsible for return/restock fees.

If video expansion is a top priority, you would likely be better served by a Mac Pro.
