How do I disconnect LCD LVDS Cable (part # 593-0878 A)?

While following the guide for HD on my iMac, I found no reference to the removal of the LCD LVDS Cable when removing the display panel. Steps 9 and 10 address the thermal sensor and the power cable, but not the LCD VCDS cable. Step 11 says to lift and remove the display panel from the device. Is it necessary to leave this cable connected, or may it be removed also? If it can be disconnected, could I get some help on how the cable disconnects from the display panel? Thanks!!

It's here on page #54. There are screws then it appears to just lift straight up/out.
