My screen doesn't light up on Compaq Presario cq57, can it be just a bulb replacement? it works with an external monitor

If you did not hit or put a lot of presure on the screen so the screen did not broke then you might have to change the LCD inverter of your laptop. I am not sure if there is a guide in here but you should check it out.

if you shine a light at an angle against your LCD, can you still see an outline of the desktop on it? Have you disassembled it and check to make sure that your LVDS cable is still properly connected?
