CAN'T Replace Hard Drive DOES NOT READ it! HELP!

Bought by IFIXIT suggestion

1TB 5400 RPM Toshiba SATA Hard Drive (new)

I read it was compatible with my macbook so I went

for it - when I try to change it - twice it didn't read it

at all.

My brother had a similar problem with its macbook pro

when it came to hard drive of 1TB.

Now I wonder is there any chance I can still use this hard drive internal or should I give up get a case and use it as external!?

Your have given very generic information about your machine and HD. Your machine has (can only use) Serial ATA (1.5 Gb/s). If the new drive is SATA II/III (3 to 6GB/s) it wont work. SOME drives can be manually set to SATA I - some can not.

Some external cases can automagically match USB speed - so that may work.

Generally SATA II can drop back one version without problems - the manufacturers site should have information/instructions about this. Contact their support department.
