Screen gets lines, flickers, and goes black when sitting still?

Hello,

I've read the 3 answers on this forum and several others on the internet. My IBM T41 took a tumble and I ended up losing all my information. It's not dead, but shortly after getting it repaired, the screen would flicker, get perpendicular lines on it, and then go black. I can hold the power button down and turn it off. All of this is while it's on the power cord. The battery is probably needing to be replaced because the computer won't run for more than 15 minutes without an outside source for power.

The BIOS screen would show up, so I bought and replaced the CMOS battery. That seemed to fix the problem at first, it only seemed to let the computer run for a short while longer before blacking out again.

I noticed that one of the long coaxial cables, the black one, has a small spot of damage on it. Could this be the problem or could it be something else?

Thanks in advance for the help on this.

which coax cable? Try to see if it stays on if you use an external monitor. Right now it does sound like either a broken connector, bad cable or bad LCD.
