Just replaced my LCD panel - why is there no image?

So my old LCD panel got a bunch of lines and I bought and installed this replacement. When I booted my macbook back up, however, the backlight worked but the screen stayed black. I took it off again and connected my old, damaged display back up and the picture worked. Put the new one on again and got nothing? Any ideas? Is this just a faulty replacement or is there something I'm missing?

Check the number on the back of the old display against the replacement - they must be compatible. You should talk with your vendor about this.
