Remove the stand for VESA kit

Is there a way to remove the stand for the attachment of the Apple VESA kit? The old way with the plastic card doesn't seem to work.

Ok fine so!

Yesterday i just notice a SNAP from my iMac 27 Mid 2012 and the screen was looking down... I realized that the spring of the stand was dead. so now i see video everywhere of people opening the iMac but no one is showing the spring stand... I fear that a part could go on the motherboard or something like that... There should be an option to change it to VESA at that point... For many of people who is not qualified to do that kind of thing's it's ok but when you do such a things every day.

If some one have a clue to where to get the spring stand and instruction about it... When there is a spring and you bend it, something can fly away for sure if you didn't pay attention.

Sorry for my bad english and Thank's!

Apple so far has not offered the VESA mount parts so I don't know how you will be able to do this. They do offere the needed parts to repair your stand. Can you tell us which model you have as they have two different parts depending if you have a hard drive or a SSD, or a Fusion drived system.

MacHead is correct the newest iMac's can't be retrofitted with a VESA mount. But you can buy a iMac with it! Here's the link at the Apple site: 2013 VESA mountable iMacs
