Volume button screw is stripped

I've been following the instructions to replace the rear panel on an iPhone 3G I'm experimenting with but when I came to remove the volume screws on the inside (4 of them) the middle one is well and truly stuck and I think I have now stripped the screw back through sheer frustration. Any hints?

small drill bit and drill the head off. then you can just pull the screw out with some little tweezers etc. there are other suggestions on here...just search for stripped screw. try the next size up PH or get a flathead instead?
