DirecTV D11 Digital Satellite Receiver Freezes?

Do you have a DirecTV D11 receiver or similar that has been running flawlessly for the last few years, but is now overheating and resetting itself? Does its metal case feel very warm to the touch? If you are not covered under DirecTV’s expensive warranty plan, does not want to shell out $69 for another receiver, and is a little handy with a soldering iron, you may be able to fix it!

Options

All you need to do is to obtain two capacitors (10v 1500uf and 16v 1000uf) for a few dollars, and replace them! I have repaired two three receivers so far.

The high quality Panasonic capacitors I got from DigiKey:

  • P12356-ND CAP 1500UF 10V ELECT FM RADIAL
  • P12366-ND CAP 1000UF 16V ELECT FM RADIAL
