iPhone 5 wont turn on!

Help me please.

I have a iPhone 5 that i fix for a friend. He damaged the screen, and lcd, so you would think thats a easy fix, but no. Something else is wrong. The phone wont turn on, also not before i changed the screen. When i connect it to the charger, the whole phone get burning warm. Its not the battery, but the back side of the mainboard. I also tryed connecting it to a computer, to see if its turned on, and just not showing anything on the screen, but no, its dead. I tryed changing the battery, but its still not working. I also tryed pyshing home+power buttons same time, to get it started, but its dead.

Please help, what do i do? Whats wrong with it?

Thanks for a great page, it helped mesny times.

(Sorry for my bad english, im danish)

Kind regards, Henrik

Anybody? Do you have any ideea about what is wrong with it?

by

so it turned on before the screen change or not? try disconnecting the lcd and digitiser and see if it turns on.

by

Yes it did, i already tryed that. Also not working, but thanks for the suggestion. :-)

Hmmmmm..... The only other thing i can think of would be to remove ALL the screws that hold the motherboard, then connect all the ribbons back including the screen and see what happens. Ill keep thinking of solutions in the mean time.

I cannot say I know what exactly is wrong with your phone but I ran into relatively the same situation with a customers iPhone 5.

When i saw the phone for the first time the screen was not damaged but the frame was a bit off. The customer had dropped it off of a ladder and bent the frame on the right side, directly on the motherboard. It would not turn on nor would it respond to any power input. But it was getting EXTREMELY hot. So i stripped the phone down to bare frame and used a hammer to straighten it back to normality. At that point it would turn on. But it was still getting very hot, so I had to tinker with the alignment of the frame again. Eventually I was able to get the phone working normally again even though the screen didn't seat perfectly.

My suggestion is :

A. If the frame is bent, try to straighten it and see if there is any improvement.

B. If no frame damage is present, remove the motherboard, make sure there is nothing contacting the board besides the screw mounts, reassemble the phone and see if there is any improvement. ( you may want to repeat this process several times just to see if moving the board slightly each time makes any difference)

TL:DR

The best i can summarize from my situation was that the motherboard was being held by the frame in a position that grounded out a essential component causing excessive heat. After the tension was relieved the phone seemed fine.

Thanks for your feedback. I tryed what you said, but i didnt help, it also not damaged in the side or the back, but it feels warm in the side and back, so it sounds like it could be the same problem as you had. But nothing is touching the frane, so im still lost. :-(

I've just had a 4s that caused me no end of bother...it would not accept the screen..overheated, no display, constant chirping-it ended up disabling itself. Removed new screen, put in broken one and all is right with the phone. The replacement screen worked fine on another phone. I have no idea what happened, tried updating phone/dfu and it still refused to have the new screen.

I had a similar problem with my grandsons iphone 6 and I performed a DFU (deep firmware upgrade) (and the phone does not have to be on) and the phone is now fine.It will set the phone to factory settings so make sure that you back it up

I had a similar problem at hand with an iPhone 5. The back gets hot when turn on, but no display. This problem started when the battery drain out.

I have fixed a similar one before which fails to turn on after battery drain. I remove the board and kick the battery, fixed it back voila...turns on and starts charging. It reboots when turn off until ios7 update and now its stable.

This second one, is however something....something must be the problem.

Calm down buddy, the same thing happened to me, my screen cracked but still functioned, after 4 months the screen was black, when I would charge it it would play the sounds, so I fixed the screen and it started working.

Firstly, make sure your iPhone is power enough, in a try condition. And then try to restart it. If all is to no avail, maybe you can force your iPhone 5 into Recovery mode to see whether it is fixed.

Replace the U2 ic chip on motherboard. If you can't do soldering find a shop that can.
