water damage computer booted up but then shut down

Over 8 months ago, a water bottle was overturned on my MacBook pro 13 that I bought August 2010. I left it alone for a few days to minimize the risk of causing a short. I opened the back and saw no readily apparent signs of water damage. when I plugged in the charger, the LED light was barely even on, and the computer wouldn't a start up. Last week I decided to try again, as a similar incident happened with an old iPhone that seemed destroyed by water damage but worked without incident after being left alone for a couple months.when I plugged in the charger, the LED was bright green indicating it was charging. After about an hour, I turned it on, it went through the process of booting up, but instead of going to the desktop it shut down, nothing running. Since then I've gotten no reaction of any kind outside of the charger LED being bright green. Is there anything else I can do or was it just a fluke that anything happened at all? I have tried resetting the SMC to no avail.

You can open the machine and look for corrosion or burned components. A DIY repair would be to replace the logic board. Both of these are advand DIY projects.

You might look into the cost effectiveness of repair... vs parting out the machine and putting the money towards a replacement.

Only you know what you are capable of DIY - and how much you want to spend.
