I had the same issue on my Macbook Pro 15" late 2011 " the display show pattern in color red is more and I test with external monitor it work fine no pattern. what this course by VGA Card on Logic Board or LCD Display?

Since the external monitor is ok you have an onboard video chain problem (not VGU/VGC logic board). I suspect the LCD is bad.

I agree to machead3 - I doubt this is caused by the internal LVDS cable from the logic board to the LCD panel; you can check this by moving the LCD panel while the red pattern is visible.
But it sounds more like the LCD itself is faulty.
