If your phone is water damaged do not turn it on. The water travels faster when the phone is on and causes a lot of corrosion. To get rid of the water damage corrosion you'll have to take the motherboard out of the phone and clean it with Isopropyl Alcohol. You can do this using a tooth brush or try get your hands on an UltraSonic cleaner. You'll need to get a new battery as it is best to steer clear of water damaged batteries. If there is corrosion on the gold contact plates on the motherboard use an eraser to rub them off (do not use the toothbrush as it can cause scratches which you don't want). After cleaning it check over the components, you may see that some solder would have gone with the corrosion. Needless to say the rice trick is pretty much useless and a waste of time. Once you've cleaned the motherboard leave it for about 20-30 minutes to dry and then re-assemble the phone and put in the new battery. Hopefully if the corrosion isn't too bad this should work. You'll most likely need to replace a few parts in the phone like the charging block and LCD etc depending on how long you've left the water in the phone and whether you've turned it on or how heavy of rain it was. ALSO: Do NOT clean the battery or the LCD with the alcohol only the LCD connections can be cleaned. Hope this helps.

Try out the rice trick for 24 hours and turn it back on. if there was water inside the SIM tray then there should be more water inside.

Something that might help too is to clean the metal-to-metal contacts with a soft tooth brush and isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry up and put the phone back together. This guide shows how to take the motherboard out.

After a kayaking spill we followed this process

Removed. And dried the Sim card

Opened the case

Removed the battery

Put all the separate parts in a bag of rice for 48 hrs

Reassembled

Charged the battery and rebooted the phone

Came back good as new after being under water for about 2 minutes

hey, i dropped my phone in the toilet, took it apart, left it in rice for a week, and ordered a new battery as i got the red light of death or whatever. it worked fine for the day, but suddenly crashed this evening and wont turn on, no lights, nothing. i took out the battery, and plugged it in, fortunately i got one light, but just the one, nothing more...i'm referring to it as the red light of hope...waiting on some isopropyl alcohol to clean all the connections etc (took the mother board out and noticed some severe corrosion inside...i'm hoping that the alcohol can fix it, if not, i'm just going to have to give up on these photos). moral of the story: TAKE THE PHONE APART COMPLETELY and leave it in rice before attempting to turn it on. make sure it is not corroded/damaged/still damp before turning it back on with a new battery, as this can ruin it completely.

Hey give it to a normal service technician he will open the case and then clean the mother board n others with chemicals they have and then dry it up. dont keep the phone with u for longer time as there s a chance of mother board being spoiled. And get it serviced as soon as possible. The red light mean ur battery is totally dried out. So once the service is being done connect the charger for 4 hours and then ull see that it is charged for 2% at the max. so then charge it for over night and it will work.

good luck
