Screen failure on s3 mini

I have replaced a screen on an s3 mini and I can't see anything wrong with the old screen, only damage to metal tape underneath screen. This tape is attached to the housing and is ripped quite badly. When the screen is attached it displays output but is unresponsive to touch.

Would fitting screen to a new housing fix this? Or is it the return flex?

Open to suggestions here!
