i7 and C2D logic boards interchangeable?

Hello

I have got a MacBook Pro 17" unibody from early 2009, equipped with a 2.66 C2D CPU.

Mag Safe adapter has 85 watts.

I like to know if I can exchange the C2D logic board with a later built i7 logic board (of the A1297 17" unibodies) by simply swap out my C2D board and swap in a i7, let 's say 2.2 GHz CPU, board, made during 2011?

I think it will be a performance increase because of CPU type and RAM speed.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, Stone

Additional question: is it possible to have an A1286 board in an A1297 MacBook without major changes?

You can not change model years... but you can upgrade to a faster logic board.

Hello MacHead3

Thanks again for your answer.

If I get you right, I must use a logic board out of the same production year / series in order to upgrade - I cannot change from a 2009 C2D board to a 2011 i7 board?

Right?

Thanks, Stone
