Visual Display Not Working

My display is not working .ie. wen i press my home button the screen does notlight up and i know my phone is working because if someone rings me the phone vibrates but no display ? any help ?

Sounds like your LCD died. On the side, you indicate you have a first generation iPhone- is that true? If so, I recommend you just upgrade, as replacing the LCD will be at least $75 for the part alone. And the labor of taking one of those puppies apart is no easy picnic.
