computer does not recognize airport card.

My laptop ws working perfectly recieving internet connection until I tried to clean out the junk on my Hard drive.

Now, when ever I try to connect and set the computer on airport connection, it always goes to the internal modem setup and I cannot delete that configuration. Did I loose sometihng of the apple program that is needed to select the port of the airport connection?

Would the only solution to fixing the problem b to erase the hard drive and reinstall the system again (which I forgot to mention is Mac OS 10.4.6) If this is the only solution would I loose everything on my hard drive?

I await your reply. hope I've given you enough of an explanation to help you to help me. Thanx Curt

First I would try disk repair. Boot into your system disk and select utilities/disk repair and run disk repair until it reports no trouble found. If this does not correct your problem you may have deleted something you shouldn't have. If that's the case I would recommend using archive and install to keep from losing your data. You will have to redo your settings but your programs and data should be good. To be on the safe side however do a good backup first. Good luck Ralph

The OP should also download and install the free 10.4.11 combo Tiger system update. Always better to have the last system updates installed. His PB is also Leopard compatible....

lemerise is correct--update with the combo update before reinstalling. Ralph
